Does W-CDMA have to work as well as CDMA2000? The answer is NO. Even with 1/4 efficiency it will become the world standard. The operators have already bet their lives on it. So it's in QCOMs self interest to get chips and software solutions out there pronto.

This old time QCOMer is currently buying NOK had over foot.

When the ITU forced the issue and made their mandate that Qualcomm and Ericsson settle their differences or forever forgo CDMA, it was not a mandate to Qualcomm, Ericsson AND Nokia.

The settlement between ericy and qcom had a more to do with a little ol' court date in Texas, than any mandate from the ITU. Ericy lucked out that Qualcomm doesn't own ericy right now.
