well no one cares about accounting gimmicks when there's a bull market. someone needs to tell these new economy believers that in a bear market, you don't just buy the hottest company regardless of the financials like you could during the mania.

you know the first thing i look for these days when i'm perusing a short candidate? a high valuation relative to cash/sales/earnings etc. lots of debt always helps too.

new economy believers just pick the companies that seem hottest, with the neato products and the fast growing sales. they pay no attention to valuation or balance sheets. someone should do them a favor and tell them that strategy is a bull market strategy, not a bear market one!
