To an extent... but it still promotes collectivism over individualism. All churches are collectivists. Do not forget that the subversion of individual rights often begins with churches. Let's take the earliest American example: it is the churches who demanded the continuation of slavery when the Articles of Confederation was drawn up. They threatened to press their political power on their respective Commonwealths and decline the invitation to become one of the first thirteen states of the new country of America unless the "right" to own other human beings was respected.
