They are becoming popular. There are two types, the plastic you bury up to the rim for the smaller ones and then the dig the hole and line it for larger gardens. Pumps, waterfalls, fish, plants, rocks. They can turn into real projects.

I saw a neat one on TV. The whole back yard was a shallow pond with the edges heavily planted in bushes. The back wall of the house was glass and the pond extended into the family room under the glass. Also a deck across the back of the house. Feed the fish from the deck or sitting in front of the fireplace. No little fish, big 20 pound carp of various species.
