Depends on what interest rates do...
They go up, returns go down.
that is what happened in 1999.
Rates fell in 2000 so bonds were a great investment then. I bought some strips (zero coupons) when the nas was going wild and sold them earlier this year for a 33% gain! VERY risky investment so don't attempt until you understand and can calculate on paper what is happening...8)
