The only question is..

Do you see the fractals as a by-stander, investigator or a thief?

That's about as noble as I've ever heard it said.

If their manipulation is successful, it means that the emotion of the larger “herd” was inclined to begin with as to allow it to be successful; again, they are just reflecting the public mood.

By this do you mean that they essentailly 'stoke the fear and provoke the greed' but those two emotions are greater than they are and are always in play.
