Why does everybody assume that because a goofy guy is good at creating PC software, or perhaps helping others create PC software, that he will also be good at investing in the stock market? Paul Allen has an incredibly bad investment record that stretches far beyond the Metricom failure.

As for Ruff, his approach is to attempt to insult anybody that disagrees with him which makes him look more like a junior high school kid than somebody that actually knows anything. His immature behavior makes him look like a clown to others.

Almost everybody saw the Metricom failure coming LONG AGO. That is why the number of shares shorted was at maximum levels. The losers were mostly inexperienced small guys that threw around investment wizard (laughing) Paul Allen's name to convince them that inability to sell the product did not matter and coming competition from 1XRTT CDMA did not matter. Well, it turns out that 1XRTT did not matter because Metricom couldn't even stay alive long enough to face it in the marketplace later this year!
