D, you use the term genetic humanity. This term is somewhat meaningless to me. But it's a term that isolates a human life to an instant in time. I think of a human life as a span of time that has a natural beginning and an end. By all current technical consensus a human life begins at conception. Once started for many year and for many(most) their entire lives they cannot survive alone.

alone as in a dessert island with sufficient natural resources only if one knows how to find them.

You use the term impunity from being slain. I think in terms of Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. A society can define a set rules and under those rules the society can decide the end a life. This applies to adults who have free will to follow the rules. The society defines the rules that must be followed or ones life may be forfeited. In general rules can be set that if one has taken life or intends to take anothers life that ones forfeits ones claim to the right to life.

I have a difficult time with the death penalty.
Only in that I'm not convinced that the current process is infallible. I would not want to have to kill in a war or have other kill but sometimes preserving life is the issue.
But killing children in war and putting to death a three year who plays with matches that results in a deadly fire is wrong.

There is the concept of a time when human life is totally innocent and we take these truths to be self evident that putting to death an innocent humans is wrong. If with infallible judgement a mother or child's life is at risk, a sad choice may be made to intervene.

I hope that flushes out.
D. at the time an ovum is fertilized a human life begins. From that time a process begins and that life ends some time later. There was no life before. I cannot see any definable event that is as defining as conception. Man can kill man at any time and abort the natural life cycle of a human life.
