Tom, we forgave millions of dollars of debt to El Salvador so they would not cut down their forests. Why? Because "These forests sequester carbon dioxide and help mitigate climate change." If carbon dioxide isn't a cause of "climate change," or the words of Ari Fleischer, "global warming," why are we forgiving such debts to "sequester" CO2 so as to "mitigate (ie, fight) climate change." Are we are sequestering it to protect it from the evil infuence of oxygen?
