<< Ideas are proven to be true then determined to be false. >>

With all due respect, this too may be a matter of fashion rather than something measured in terms of true of falsehood.

In either case, it may be better viewed as a matter of cycling, much like a point on the pendulum's swing. Something that was, is no longer, then is again - valid. It might be better looked at in much the same manner as bell bottoms, or platform shoes, or how we define truth... or is?.

Rare bird re read your post #73432and see how pompous you sound. In this market any body who announces that they will buy aggressively on a certain date months in advance is either clairvoyant or a fool.I would suggest you sit back and wait till october to make that investment decision.Alot can happen in 3 months.
As to your post # 73454 I would suggest you try substituting"stock investor and stock bug"for" gold investor or gold bug."You may find the resulting statement closer to reality.
You say it is important to shield yourself from the noise of the media and financial threads, yet you seem to parrot their optimism.
My contribution to the thread is just to say what I feel, for in that dismal science of economics feelings are part of the equation.I do not pretend to be an expert on stockmarket.I do not pretend to know all the answers.

Eurozone economy beats forecasts

Germany's economy is expected to slow this year

Eurozone gross domestic product (GDP) is rising at a faster rate than expected.
It went up 0.6% in the first three months of 2001, up from an earlier estimate of 0.5% and slightly above analyst forecasts, according to figures released on Friday.

But the picture for the whole year could be more subdued, as the area's biggest economies are affected by a slowdown in the global economy.

The eurozone economy grew 0.6% in the last quarter of 2000.
