I do not advocate anarchy, but a return to a "nation of laws" that are objectively designed to protect individual freedoms and encourage individual State rights.

As for the role of a centralized (in this case federal) government: as the Founding Fathers envisioned it, its main purpose was to keep hands-off and protect the individual and the citizen at large from violation of inalienable rights whether those violations threatened from another individual, a collective group, or an outside threat.

The government's role in a responsible and free society must by definition be subordinated to the rights of each and every citizen.

If all social programs and programs the government has foisted on an unsuspecting/ignorant/apathetic public (take your choice) were eliminated, then the federal government's monetary needs would be a fraction of what they are now.

I also advocate the abolishment of the present IRS and seek to replace it with a revenue funding alternative that does not punish the creation of wealth, but instead taxes consumption. A structure such as that proposed by Citizens for an Alternative Tax System cats.org is preferable to what we have now and a giant step in the right direction.
