I hate to break this to you, but an large part of antitrust law is about protecting competition from marauding monopolists. Restricted competition harms consumers. To protect MSFT's competitors from MSFT is to protect the consumer from harm. You should read the Appeals Court decision; they go over this pretty lucidly.

Polls taken show that the majority of Americans agree.

well said. Like I said it before, suckers who can't make it in the market place seek Gov's protection. They might have not realized yet Reno is out :-)
