Does anyone adore you? A hard thing to imagine on the evidence I've seen, but it is possible, I suppose, that there might be a kinder, gentler, smarter Gao hidden beneath the venom, bile, spittle, and apparent absence of functional synapses. Does their hypothetical adoration define your identity? "Commie" amuses me intensely. Every hardcore leftie I meet denounces me as a pawn of the right because, among other things, I approve of free trade, I think multinational investment is a good thing for the developing world, and I think the environmental movement has been coopted by a bunch of clueless superstition-laden misfits. The righties think I'm a commie because I believe in fiscal responsiblity and keeping government out of people's private lives (I'm still trying to figure out the relationship between that and being a commie). I think this is very funny, and I take it as evidence that I must be doing something right. Every time I encounter an individual or institution that is anathema to extremists both sides, I start developing warm cozy feelings. I'm even starting to think kindly thoughts about the IMF.... "Coward" is even funnier, though of course you don't know why.

Finally- you've said ONE TRUE thing!!!! At least it is true in regards to MOI. I do adore Steven. He is witty, and funny, and just generally wonderful (everything, I might add, that you are not). Simply put, are you a little bit jealous? It kind of looks that way. In fact several of the men here seem to be quite, quite, green with envy over the status of Steven. To be adored, be adorable. You have a long, long way to go to get there. Now better stop posting, that's probably the only thing you're ever going to get right (or do you prefer "write")?

Well, simply put, X and K simply adore you. I wouldn't use the word "adore." That suggests something warm and fuzzy. I would use the word "respect." It's so nice to read posts from someone whose positions are uniformly thoughtful, constructive, and intelligent. And independent. I always pay attention to what he has to say. OTOH, what can I say about this kind of thinking? X and K simply adore you ERGO you are a coward and and a commie. Huh? (I used the word "thinking" loosely.) Karen
