This article talks about Powell as of June 4. Has he gone on sabbatical? I see a few articles on Powell, but they are usually incidental; he spoke on a conference; he's coming with Bush to Europe this week, etc. I'm don't know if he was at the Bond speech. I think that the Administration has left Powell hanging out to dry enough times that Powell must be wondering whether taking this job was such a good idea. I'm not suggesting that he would resign the position; I don't read Powell that way..If the President calls, you answer the phone. Powell could have been very good; actually he is very good, it's just that the Administration doesn't allow him to be good. IMO Powell is too centrist for the Administration, so Powell becomes a token position. Not in the racial sense, he's admired, he's respected, etc...it's a good image to have. jttmab
