Dale, Re: K6-2 sales -> Celerons

I think I wrote a little unclearly... AMD increased its sales overall while basically dropping K6-2. I wonder if the 0.8M K6-2 (or so) were predominately replaced by growth in Durons or Athlons.

However, I believe you are likely correct on the K6-2 -> Celerons since the K6-2 should largely have been of the mobile variety. AMD's stated goal of 50% retail notebook share by end of the year is certainly ambitious. Powernow enabled Morgans would be very nice to see. We just need some testing under "real world" conditions of comparable systems to see the effectiveness of the various power management programs and any apparent impact on system performance. There has been a lot of hype about battery power "savings" and performance while on batteries from all corners (AMD - INTC - TMTA) and it needs some perspective from rigorous third party testing. Of course, the actual results will get more consideration here <g> than by most consumers.
