patron~ ... glad to see others "get it"

ie: your comments of

[Exactly. It's apparent that price volatility favors OPEC. By crushing prices every 2-3 years, they basically check non-OPEC cap-ex ramps and destabilize oil patch employment bases (ie, patch workers get fed up and retrain in other job opps). Therefore when the next boom comes, the domestic industry isn't nimble enough to fully exploit it. This sort of volatility also slows development of alternative energy resources. It's a win-win-win proposition for OPEC, despite their statements about wanting price stability. The U.S wants price stability NOT OPEC. Therefore oil will remain the most cyclical of commodities for the forseeable future, IMO. ]

BINGO ! - right on the money.

... and for threadster/traders here - THIS is EXACTLY why there is no attractive risk vs reward play into re-entering on any portfolio weighted degree - "long" into THIS Oilpatch cycle again - it's over/done... put a fork in it.

OPEC is going to pull the rug out from under us again - hell; they have to.... it's a no-brainer & do you think that ole' Alan Greenspan just might welcome a quick snap back in Oil Prices here & now; as he reflates the US economy ? - it's a "win-win" for the Powers that be... and that aint - "you & me" (VBG)... but, we can keep one step ahead of them...and remember who told you that OPEC would hedge the coming simultaneous collapse in BOTH Oil Prices and the US Dollar with Gold... tic toc... when, not if ~ both Oil and the US Dollar will contract - because they must & because the "powers that be" all win... Greenspan can reflate/liquify without significant inflation worries, OPEC wins by pulling the rug out from under the non-OPEC producers & the US Energy Industry & corporate America wins; as they can only pull out of their corporate profits recession with a weaker dollar & lower Oil Prices sure won't hurt either...
