There is always the option of salvaging parts with defective L2 cache lines. AMD could offer fully qualified Thoroughbred parts with 512KB of 16-way set associative L2 cache, and salvage lower cost parts with four ways disabled, providing 384KB of 12-way set associative L2 cache.

Yes they could, if they could manufacture then.

The same could have been said of Mustank but AMD couldn't err... I mean decided not to manufacture it.
