What obvious good? AMD dual systems are faster than anything Intel has and not even I expect any significant server sales for them.

This despite AMD's ability to price those systems low, since they are able to obtain that high level of performance without the use of the expensive large cache chips Intel servers need. It may or may not be AMD's point to point architecture that renders large caches unnecessary for their dual processor servers, but whatever the reason, they get the performance without the need for big caches, and won't be getting the sales, near term at least, either way.
