I think you are right on this point. I have read at least two articles that in colonial times all able bodied men over the age, I think, of 14 were deemed to be the militia. One of the great problems of reading the constitution is that the words don't mean the same to us as they did to our founding fathers. For example, "the pursuit of happiness" meant economic freedom. Our current judiciary doesn't believe in economic freedom. Freedom for everything that is deleterious to our society, but not economic freedom. Very Strange.

Every able-bodied person is in the militia.
I agree with some modification. It should be sound mind and body, and any militia member should submit themselves and their firearms for periodic inspection.
