Hi UF - of course I was not answering on behalf of Earlie. Just using the opportunity to make an observation.

As to my jibe at myself "politely at first" (in contrast to prior approaches), please... allow me to poke fun at myself at least. Your lack of appreciation for a threat that was not intended is noted. In other words, I agree with you? LOL.

As to "no one has applied that standard", I'm surprised. Is it necessary for me to post links? I hope not because I think it would be quite rude to single out individuals. How is a standard deemed to be applied? By postulate? Or by deed? By sanction? By the degree of support? By the degree of rigor to which is questioned?

Yes, indeed, this is the G&K portfolio candidates thread. So it should go without saying that "the primary focus of this specific discussion group is on identifying stocks with sustainable competitive advantages over long term holding periods".

And thus one should expect a bias towards LTB&H as an investment style. My choice of the word "bias" is conscious and careful. Which recognizes inclusion and adoption of alternatives within the tactical toolkit.

I am merely making observations about the linkage between the competitive advantages of a company and its business, versus purchasing the stock as a prudent investment.

I do sense that this potential dichotomy is not fully appreciated or understood. I sense that you do, so I may legitimately be accused of preaching to the choir. But others do not.

As you well know, it is one thing for a company to have a sustainable advantage, it's entirely another thing for a stock to have a sustainable advantage.

John.
