Wrong angle. Intel and AMD are in different leagues.
My observation does not apply to the market leader,
who dictates pricing no matter what.
A market challenger cannot afford platform hiccups.

I think you need to re-visit your statement. It could
be true for a low-ball PC1600 (DDR-100), but the
performance was not competitive (see steps (b) and
(c)). To my recollection, the DDR-266 had a lot of
"instabilities". The total effect is the same -
platform is late, and ASP plummets.
