niceguy, Re: Thread Moderation I do not believe anyone could do a finer job than Mani in moderating such a contentious thread (even with the general effort of most contributors to correspond courteously). My interest is in trying to assist the thread in self-moderating and only if Mani is not available determining how the thread can continue (replace moderator or migrate to new thread). When the moderated thread started there was a lot of heat about whether it would be successful or not and I think it has generally succeeded in being a more productive forum than the unmoderated thread had become. Nobody wants to "get rid" of Mani and everyone acknowledges that he did a great job in the last year. However, lately he has become very absent and even ignores private mails. If you compare the signal-to-noise ratio now and some months ago, you'll find that it has greatly decreased. I think it would be a good idea to migrate to a new, better form of moderation or at least finding some help for Mani. Andreas

Paul, Elmer, & Yousef got rid of Albert, who I consider one of the most valuable thread participants, several times in the past. You've read about him thinking about leaving again. I personally, would pitch the three of them in a heartbeat. Or immediately leave to a thread which had their nonparticipation part of it's foundation. I find it frightening that the kind of posting that has gone on around here in the last couple of weeks hasn't been met with a suspension or two. tgptndr
