eCo, "But we are talking about today's ASP's - ASP's that have dropped in the last quarter"

You still did not get the formula: (today) == (late).

".. where no serious platform problems have existed."

Again, maybe no problems have existed, but for obsolete,
underperforming 100-MHz platforms, where the only
incentive for OEMs was a rock-bottom AMD pricing
(besides some political baggage that comes from
existence of second supplier, of course).

You are basing your conclusion on amateur's web
publications, who are using cherry-picked free
samples of boards and processors, in quantity one, with
cherry-picked samples of memory, with no clues how
to evaluate a PC platform. I was trying
to tell you that OEMs have much more serious
approach to platform evaluation. Results
are well known. And you are still trying
to "demonstrate fallacy" of my arguments?
