Pravin,

<Dan Niles was just on CNBC discussing Intel. He said that they will try to make bullish comments, but that the numbers they will give will force analysts to lower revenue and eps projections. He said that in 3 to 6 months, Intel will be a lot lower than it is now, and that it will probably test its 52 week low. I'd say he has a pretty good picture of reality. Intel has dropped another half a buck in afterhours after Nile's comments.>

Niles is probably right given that Brookdale seems to have missed the back-to-school season and Mobile Tualatins are still a no show. The only problem in getting a good sense of Q2 and Q3 is the Q2 quarter-end shenanigans that AMD and Intel seem to have done (AMD, having slept at the wheel for the first half of Q2, probably did a bit more of stuffing than Intel).

Regardless of what Intel says in the conference call, it seems highly likely that AMD will take a beating.

Chuck

If INTC's revenues decline by 10% in q2 and if INTC's ASP's drop 10% plus as did AMD's in q2, there is no way, even with David Copperfield advising their accounting people, that INTC can come in anywhere near $0.10, inmo...Heck, a 10% drop in ASP's knocks an additional $600 million, or $0.10 out of the profit picture. Combined with a 10% revenue decline, INTC has to be flirting, maybe even immersed, in red!

If INTC shows red tomorrow, probably a pretty good chance of an INTC price thud shortly thereafter, no matter what spin management puts on it!

Pravin,
Dan Niles has been so wrong with his stock price projection, that he's opinion about the stock price isn't worth much (atleast to me). He predicted Intel would go to $200 (pre-split) by end of 2000. Then early he predicted Intel would go to teens in Q2 2001. Wrong on both cases.

However, he's been reasonably accurate with his prediction on Revenue and EPS (as compared to other analysts). Did he give any revenue/EPS projection for Q3 and H2 ?

Maui.
