Thank you very much for the info. I went and checked the Compaq website and it is not on sale yet.

This whole bet thing shows how bad things have gone at AMD. In 1999 I was pretty sure of Merced status (I had a neighbor high up on Merced team). Based on what I heard I thought the damn thing may never ship because of the performance issues and McKinley being so close.

I didn't think AMD would flounder this badly. Live and learn, I guess!
