I don't give a flying hot damn what they believe. They can believe in Santa or the Great Pumpkin for all I care. If they announce that the laws of Santa or the G.P. represent absolute truth and ought to be binding on all of us, though, I do feel obliged to point out that Santa and the G.P. are fantasies, and the laws attributed to them are human constructs.

You're absolutely right.

Each has the right to believ what he wants to. And in the end (or, really, the beginning) each starts with basic unprovable unknowable assumptions. Some say for them it comes from God, some say for them it doesn't come from God. No difference; each at the start has to make a choice in the absence of any logic, proof, etc.
