Seems to me if INTC had wanted to soften the blow they would have used their first ever scheduled pre announcement 'update' by the CFO as a perfect opportunity. Since they did not, and since INTC is loathe to surprise the Street for fear of retribution (I really think to a great extent AMAT got hit so hard today because *everyone* hates those kind of 'informal' surprises) expect at least a meet to their revised numbers and then the real crux will be do they 'side' with MSFT in terms of playing the XP 2nd half of year is going to save us all card, or sing the ST blues.

NAZ futures only down 6.5 now does not seem like sellers want to get trapped by the big boys, isn't it true that most pro traders wait out earnings so they don't get burned?

Be warned though I carry a long INTC position so perhaps my analysis is tainted à la Walt Whitman:
'I guess it must be the flag of my disposition, out of hopeful green stuff woven.'
