"Re: Intel is beginning to see a pickup in P4 design activity. Whether this is the result of improving demand or Intel's aggressive pricing is
difficult to say"

When your starting point is zero, it's not hard to demonstrate some pickup!

RE:"Here's what Intel is selling P4 for:
$166 Pentium 4 1.4GHz
$154 Pentium 4 1.3GHz

Here's what they're selling P3 for:
$171 Pentium III 1GHz
$158 Pentium III 933
$140 Pentium III 866"

How much lower do you think Intel will have to take the P4 to get someone to buy it?

Jim

You can get a 1.4 ghz Athlon for $8 less then a 1ghz Pentium III according your data, and 1.33ghz for $44 less ( it also sells for$13 less then a P3 866), but Intel can still sell a lot more P3s then AMD sells Athlons. Doesn't really make sense. Sure Intel can make a lot more P3s but with all that supply chasing current weak demand you would think the price would come down more.
