toowit thanks re: RVL Raven. I also see an ex-Petromet employee (where Smith was pres. at one time) has joined up with him too -- Sharon Supple who was finance pooh-bah.

Another name that didn't get mentioned in the article is CGR-cdnx Cigar Oil & Gas. Guy in charge there is ex-Barrington pres. Brian Gore. In Barrington's last days before the attracting u.s. owners there was lots of emotion surrounding mgmt. One group clustered together headed by James Saunders and started up Ionic which was recently taken out by a trust. Shareholders seemed to do quite well in a relatively short period of time. Gore started up the CGR thing and in the last 6 months or so a few more new hires have been added and the stock also moved up smartly and a financing was announced.

I haven't yet seen mention of the ex-Ionic folks and where they will re-appear however rumour was that they indeed are still around and should become visible with some land that Ionic once held that wasn't included in the IOI-tse takeout.

One other mgmt. group too that is rumoured to get something going again is the group from Cypress Energy Inc. Cypress was taken out by a trust (Primewest) and mumbles I heard some time ago were that in August some fishing trip in the Queen Charlottes would also be a general strategic planning meeting re: some of the forward-thoughts.......

This time around it would appear that founder types will be able to structure situations around personal and private preferences rather than having to go to the equity market to jump start ideas. Suspect it will be a while yet but some of the situations will likely prove very rewarding (again) over time.
