I'm waiting till you get to the enlightening (uplifting?) books ... I'm afraid of the ones that are too depressing . Waiting like the kid with the nose against the glass, watching the party.....

Well, I'd say that our discussion of the book so far is consistent with the style of writing. Simple, matter of fact, to the point. I liked that about the book (although it probably isn't workable for a book discussion). My main objection to "literature" has always been the way it goes on and on describing things. I thought The Stranger was just perfect in that regard. It suited me. I may read something else by Camus soon.

As for the theme of our reading list, I must say that I didn't see it coming. It wasn't until our protagonist was being questioned by the magistrate that I realized he was going to have his head chopped off because he had non-traditional emotional reactions. Of course, he was as mellow about that as he was about everything else. So I was, too.
