Hey, I only got 2 years in the market, but it was enough.

Dilbert type jobs suck and Europe is really cool. So why not?

Max, in my neck of the woods the "early outs" are school teachers and UAW members. Police officers, Fire fighters, and military people also can get out early. 20-years or 25-years and you can get out of these occupations with full pensions. What a sweet deal.

The people I know who fit this description are mostly middle class, have great pensions, and have part time or side jobs to keep them busy, since retirement is slow death unless you have something to keep you occupied that is enjoyable and somewhat challenging. Some were school teachers who were bought out of their last couple of years to save the district money on their high salaries.

Some may own apartments or duplexes for income and fix them up on the side, some drive autos from auctions to car dealerships, some volunteer. I do not know of too many who are just driving around in a motor home (I know of one, and they do Habitat for Humanity homes across the country, but they can hardly be described as upper middle class).

Anyway, suffice to say that I only know 1-person who fits your description, and he sold his company to USOP for $10-million in cash and stock, but he only travels about 6-weeks a year. The rest of the time he dotes on his kids and new grandkids.

Anyway, that's how it looks from my neighborhood, Max.
