Veritas Software (VRTS) 50.42 +3.26: Reports Q2 earnings of $0.19 a share, in line with the Zacks consensus of $0.19, vs year-ago earnings of $0.13; revenues rose 41.7% to $390.22 mln (vs Multex consensus of $391 mln) from a year-ago of $275.44 mln; company warns for second half of year, sees annual revenue growth of 25-35%, down from prior guidance of 35-50%.

Pitney Bowes (PBI) 42.55 +0.50: Reports Q2 earnings of $0.58 a share, in line with the First Call consensus vs year-ago earnings of $0.64; revenues rose 2.3% to $1.02 bln vs. consensus est of $1.02 bln.

RF Micro Device (RFMD) 19.28 +0.11: Reports Q1 loss of $0.05 a share, in line with consensus, vs yr-ago profit of $0.09; says order visibility improved during the qtr; company is fully booked to support approximately 10% sequential revenue growth in the SeptQ; puts SeptQ loss at approx. $0.03 (consensus -$0.02).

Plantronics (PLT) 22.75 -0.20: Reports Q1 earnings of $0.16 a share, in line with the First Call consensus of $0.16, vs year-ago earnings of $0.38; revenues fell 20.2% to $80.11 mln from a year-ago of $100.35 mln; company warns for Sep qtr, sees revenues of $72-77 mln and EPS of $0.10-0.14 vs Multex consensus of $88 mln and $0.20. Separately, company announces that it has been selected by Microsoft (MSFT) to provide headset for the Xbox Communicator.

Advent Software (ADVS) 57.31 +0.80: Reports Q2 earnings of $0.24 a share, $0.01 better than the First Call consensus of $0.23; reports Q2 revs of $41.9 million vs. consensus of $42.7 million.
