Me too. It's not easy being a kid. They are so confused SO much of the time. Part of my job (I feel) is to help them become less confused. Right now we are learning how to follow numbered directions on the board. Most important thing- READ the directions. Second most important thing, try to understand what you just read. You'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't) by how many kids proceed past steps one and two and go directly to "I don't understand.". "DId you read the directions?" "No" "Hmmmm- maybe you better do that first." "Why?" "Because then we won't have to have this conversation again." "Oh."
