Cirrus, Re: Intel says processor shipments went up 6%. AMD's increased from about 7.3M to about 7.7M, ~5.5%.

Or maybe Otellini rounded >5.5% up to 6%. Anyway, it looks like the overall market grew and if there were any market share gains for AMD, they were minimal at best. Probably that's why Otellini gave explicit shipping numbers for the first time. He wanted to show the analysts that INTC isn't losing market share.

After hearing that CC, Plain and simple, I see Intel dominating AMD for the rest of the year at a minimum.

I agree. The scariest thing is that Intel will position 1.5 GHz P4s as the low end for $800 PCs. With AMD undercutting Intel on price clock-to-clock they'll soon have to sell their flagship 1.53 GHz Palomino for $100 or so. This will absolutely destroy ASPs unless they introduce higher clock-speeds sooner than expected (unlikely) or they change their pricing strategy.

The only real question in my mind is how low will AMD stock go as a result.

It was at $13 last year when AMD was still making tons of money. So I guess it could go down again into that range. But I doubt we'll see the '99 lows ($7 or so) any time soon.
