victor, ebay doesn't have a monopoly by any stretch of the imagination. neither did napster, as we are, and will continue, to find out. if someone opens up a free auction site then they will take lots of business away from ebay - especially as netizens get more sophisticated. i'm not sure anybody will do this b/c nobody will ante up the billions to run at a loss... but they could.

the internet is very price efficient and news travels fast.
