See new report below..... <<<[World DRAM Price] Contract Prices Decline, Causing Some Plants to Shut July 18, 2001 (TOKYO) -- The declines in prices of DRAM microchips are continuing on a worldwide basis. The 30-day rolling average price has fallen further, almost hitting the US$3 mark. Some DRAM makers are temporarily stopping operations at their plants. However, the temporary suspension of manufacturing may not affect prices, although inventories will shrink. According to a worldwide survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, which has bases in London, Houston and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average prices through June 29 (May 31-June 29, 2001) of 128Mb DRAMs (PC133, 16M x 8) for large users are US$3.33 in North America, US$3.25 in Europe and US$3.45 in Asia. Compared with the previous week's 30-day rolling average prices, through June 22, they declined 6.52 percent in North America, were unchanged in Europe, and declined 3.18 percent in Asia. As for memory modules, the spot price for the 128MB (DIMMsPC133) fell 6.74 percent from the previous week to US$18.49 in North America. Also, it declined 8.18 percent to US$22.68 in Europe and fell 7.06 percent to US$19.30 in Asia.
