Coolie: Maibulak or Karavanchy?

These are the two locations that were mentioned in previous CC's as the next delineation or exploration wells to be drilled.

I remember Mike Azancot explaining that HHLA has to make a choice of drilling on the "crest" or "edge" of Karavanchy. I interpret that as making a choice between the traditional target called Karavanchy with mean reserve potential of 80 million barrels and a deeper, more risky but much larger syn-rift fairway named East Karavanchy with mean reserve potential of 200 million barrels.

In case of Maibulak, Bernie described the drilling in very neutral terms as a delineation well, kind of "not important one way or the other". Later on, however, a press release sounded as if the "coring" of the well was important afterall. If the Maibulak well was sufficiently deep, it could have confirmed the extension of the Grabens and be extremely significant. Actually, he decided to drill a second well at that location. Why?

In two days, we will hopefully know more.
