Is In'N'Out related in anyway to Checkers?

When I lived in CA, there were in/out everywhere. Now I'm on the east coast and we have Checkers all over the place. Same exact concept with both restaurants. the only difference is the french fries and the names.

Another example I've run into

California: Home Town Buffet
Virginia/Maryland: Old Country Buffet.

Same company, same exact concept. The only difference is the name.

Re : Ventura Blvd. In-N-Out location, etc. --

My friend David just sent me another e-mail.

In my editing of his first one, I apparently confused things a bit.

He just told me : "the one seen from the freeway (101 & Seward) is in Ventura."

I guess there is also one "on Ventura Blvd. in Encino."

Jon.
