yes, many little biotech gems on the beach

but human intervention makes the sector so difficult

1. FDA
FDA approval has now become more drawn out than ever
and FDA process itself has become fickle and treacherous
they change rules in midstream all the time
numerous examples in my mammory
if these guys wake up without proper mood or sated animal drives, they can destroy a company by changing the rules
(saw that with Sunset and 80% drop, owned by friend, after they decided arbitrarily to extend reqmt from 9 to 18 months)

2. human subjects
if any drug has revealed failures or unwanted side effects, then school is out
the company stock is destroyed
even distorted bad press is destuctive
(saw that with Viagra and sudden bad press in 2000, all false)

3. political interference
if political leaders DECIDE to commandeer, usurp, expropriate all intellectual property on the Human Genome, for the greater good, what of Celera of Human Genome Sciences?
(saw that in summer 2000 when Jerkwad Clinton made pronouncements without thinking about the dozens of billion$ involved)

plenty of opps to be sure in biotech
I hate its agency, human, and political twists
