I was speaking with a friend who is an Asst. DA specializing in murders and sex crimes. She's had several missing women cases over the years and reports it's very difficult to prosecute without a body. In cases where the missing woman was not a hooker or into drugs, it's 99% the husband or boyfriend. The husband/boyfriend is ALWAYS the number one suspect.

Then perhaps we can agree to keep partisan discussion of how Levy's
disappearance is being treated by the media off this thread and stick to issues like
the nature of their relationship, the history of disappearances of young women in
that area, the evidence as it unfolds, the police's conclusion as to the acceptability
of Condit's lie detector test.

In this story, the media ARE the story. Without the treatment the media are giving it, none of us would have any idea that CL had ever disappeared. It would be a local story only, page 16 at best. This is basically a made-for-media event, so trying to divorce discussion of it from discussion of the way the media is handling it is impossible.
