DJ Finisar Sees FY02 Capital Spending Of $25M Vs $36.5M

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Finisar Corp. (FNSR) expects capital expenditures
for fiscal 2002 to decrease to $25 million, compared with $36.5 million in
fiscal 2001, according to the company's quarterly report filed Wednesday
with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The 2002 expenditures will be for equipment, furniture and leasehold
improvements, the company said.
Finisar also said it recently acquired a manufacturing facility in Malaysia
for a cash payment of $10 million, of which $2 million was for processing
equipment and $8 million was for the building.
Finisar, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., provides fiber-optic subsystems and
network performance test systems.
