Bob
ML also mentioned that it would take about a year to bring down intel's inventory levels.
Another report mentioned that inventories went up up by 35 days to 139 days.
And yet another report claimed that a lot of intel's inventories are in oems and distributors hands.
So what kind of market share was exactly gained by intel?

-Albert

RESEARCH ALERT- Merrill cuts 2001, 2002 Intel estimates

NEW YORK, July 18 (Reuters) - Merill Lynch said Wednesday it cut its 2001 and 2002 earnings estimate on Intel Corp.(NasdaqNM:INTC - news), saying the company will face intermediate-term margin pressure due to its pricing stance.

Analyst Joe Osha said he lowered his 2001 forecast to 53 cents a share from 56 cents share, and his 2002 estimate to 74 cents a share from 79 cents a share.

Ohsa said Intel's June quarter revenue of $6.33 billion, reported Tuesday, was $150 million below his estimate, and the company's gross profit of $3.02 billion was below his estimate of $3.14 billion.

He said his intermediate-term rating on the company is neutral, and added the stock is richly valued.

Bob,

It's sounds like Osha may be laying the groundwork for an upgrade.

With a $32 price target, INTC qualifies for a ML Accumulate, with $35 it could have a Buy.

I guess I'll never make it as an analyst. I think great companies are a better buy when they're cheap than expensive.
