Hey, seems they like the prestige and power, and the finest things. They cared little for the people...which is why Jesus gave them such a hard time.

The Sadducees were collaborationists, which is not precisely the same as being "right wing". The Pharisees were a progressive element in Judaism, and harbored strong Messianic yearnings. One of the greatest, Rabbi Akiva, was a supporter of Bar Kochba, and was executed for supporting insurrection.......
