No TigerPaw. People in some countries apparently have less desire for guns. People in many others (even some that we would recognize as modern democracies like Japan) have not only gun bans but more draconian policeing methods. Despite these bans though countries like England and Japan have a growing problems with guns. The US has always had a lot of guns but we have a lot more problem with murders with guns now then we did 50 or 100 years ago. There is some difference and it isn't the availability of guns. It could be differences in how we raise our kids, it could be violent TV shows and movies, it could be different police methods, it could be a more mobile populous where people don't know their neighbors as well, and can hop in a car and be hundreds of miles away a few hours after they commit a crime. It could be a combination of these things or it could be something completely different but it isn't the fact that guns are available now. They were available then as well.
