No problem with royals deaths. Bangkok was wild, look but no touching. <G> What wild town that is. They drive on the same side we do in Tibet, we drove around in landcursers, which are unbelievable sturdy. The roads just sucked, drove through a lot of water, it was one long construction project. I wouldn't suggest anyone go this year till they are done. I want to go back to Nepal to trek in the mountains, I loved it, but Tibet I have seen. I saw so much in Tibet I'm having a hard time putting into words, we got to go in a very old Tibetan home, I had tears in my eyes as I watch the 77 year old oh so little lady, who had permanent smile on her face, show us around in the dark, she was nearly blind. I saw monks with cellphones, and had old monk pull me aside that wanted his pic with me. Monks debating, like they have for centuries, Chairman Mofucker likeliness painting on the wall of a monastery, blown up monasteries, told to keep my tongue tied for fear of monks as spies, little naked begging kids everywhere, unbelievable beautiful Tibetan woman, nearly all of them where pretty, but working like dogs. It really was two trips in one, the beauty of Tibet and it's history, and the sadness of what China has done and meanness of the Chinese that live their. It was real blow to see how large the cities are that China has built, even in the remote areas. Shocking what they have done and have gotten away with. >> I will add this. Saw the cremation area in Nepal, very interesting, and look like a good way to say goodbye, ashes to ashes and all. While we where in Katmandu, we stay in the area that is trapped in the 60's. Many many climbing and camping gear shops. You could buy all your gear cheap there. In Tibet I got up early to walk with the pilgrims in Lasha, had little old lady stick her tongue out at me to show she was not a demon as she walked with her pray wheel spinning. When we arrived at Everest I stood and stared at it for hours, I couldn't keep my eyes off it. Hiked to base camp the next day, the area is so large that you just can't judge distance correctly. Saw the saddest looking pool tables I have ever seen, all along the rode in small and large towns, just outside. Was not able to buy a cold beer for weeks, that was real hardship everything else was easy. LOL B
