Yes. Just like you have to do to use Flash. The good thing about Microsoft dropping Java from XP is that finally, web-designers will be switching over to use Java plugin for their client side browser operations. Which means JDK 1.3 and not the nasty old obsolete JDK 1.1 that Microsoft had builtin into IE.

This will accelerate the ability of users to engage in P2P interactions using Java inside their browsers, and makes .NyET and Windows XP rather irrelevant for the web.
