Petz, Re: where did the 6% growth in units come from?

INTC shipped 6% more processor units in Q2 than Q1. They said that amounted to over 1 million more unit shipments for the quarter. They didn't gave exact figures for the percentage or the unit shipments, but it's reasonable to assume 1.5 million more units for Q2 if the 6.0% figure is correct.

BTW, you should definitely check out JC's excellent CC transcript for all the data:

Dear John:

You can look at JC's transcript at his page jc-news.com . An increase of 6% in the US where the US is 37% of revenue (from the Q2 press release) up 6% in Q2 from Q1. It probably means that overall shipments were flat, and of course they did not want to say that for it meant market share went up for AMD! It also probably means that unit sales were even worse like down from Q1. That means AMD may have picked up more share than Mercury estimated and Intel certainly did not want to say that or even hint that! AMD at 23% or 24% in Q2 would be very bad for Intel and their supporters. If Q3 is as bad as Q2, 26% or 27% could be the number for Q3 and the target of 30% by end of Q4 would seem very likely. Where would Intel be if even with a price war, AMD meets its goal of 30% market share?
