Are you both Federalist? Are you both influenced by Herbert Croly's ideas of government? Yes. What else matters? This is the great "conservative mistake." "Conservatives" try to maintain the shambles of what was once moral, the "liberals" push for more collectivism. In the end, under those conditions, the "liberals" win completely. It is the same mistake the White Russians made in their battle against the Red Army. That is why the Soviet Union came into being.
