If it is a strawman Win, then it is one of your creation. I said " If people want to conserve he has no problem with it. He just isn't going to force them to do so." You replied with "That is to say, W has no conservation policy."

Do you want to change your mind about not wanting to force people to conserve being the same thing as not having a conservation policy? If so fine with me.

As far as the question of Bush having a conservation policy

1 - He does have one. A relatively weak one but its is there.
2 - Why do governments have to have a policy for everything? Its one thing to have a policy about reducing government use of energy but most energy is used by the private sector. That use should be left up to individual choice and the free market.

W will probably get his way, too, multi-billion dollar military procurement boondoggles tend to get bipartisan
support, and this one is going to be the mother of all boondoggles. Of course, when the deficit blows up again, it'll
all be somebody else's fault.

Spending on missile defense atleast during the next few years, will be very small compared to the ongoing increases in social programs, or even compared to GW's tax cut. Spending in this area will not be a major factor in busting the budget any time soon.

Somebody once said "equal rights for all and special privileges for none" it sort of encapsulated what your entire country was supposed to stand for. All equal under the law and all sheltered under the gun to pursue different aims and goals.

Somewhere along the line all that changed. uoregon.edu

Life and fortune may have dealt you a mean hand Win and you hold your breath waiting for Robin Hood to redistribute the wealth. Get out there and make a fresh start, stand up straight and be a man for a change. One man can make a difference but all the men in the world can't hold back the tide.
