a clipping on ENER's ovonic memory:
from Sagami below
ovonic will be big, in time
see www.tonysagami.com

the way I see it, BorgMan, is that...
the world was not ready for Energy Conversion Devices patents back in 1980
that is when I first learned about them
their fuelcells were ready, but demand was not
by 2003 demand will be there in a bigger way
and their hydrogen sponge storage will be an important solution
safe storage and transportation of hydrogen will be key soon

the biggest obstacle to fuelcells was the recession of 1981-82
then again the Asian Meltdown
during those two periods, oil price/barrel dropped badly
how could fuelcells take root when oil was $8/bbl in 1998 ???

the stupidity of American auto mfrs to build Sport Utility Vehicles is astounding
in the face of imminent shortages of oil and gasoline
and every other key energy fuel
they think they are clever to sidestep EPA emission reqmts
when their stupidity will backfire in the next few years

short the major auto mfrs who rely on SUV sales
not only will they suffer as energy costs rise more
but their inventory will pile up
their mfg assembly lines will suffer from higher costs
and their fleet mileage efficiency will suffer from the focus

flash memory wasnt even around until cellphone and certain devices

portable batteries first became a focus with laptop PC
what was that? 1988?
demand is now strong for laptops, cellphones, kid toys
and will accelerate from last year onward
I read 40,000 new cellular subscribers every day !!!

the leading sales line for ENER is now portable batteries
their nickel hydride is finally paying off
unit sales into the millions now
I believe that line will support and subsidize many new lines soon
take a look at their sales growth
check out EBITDA, rather than profit

from Sagami:
Flash memory is that type of memory that is saved even when the power source is turned off, such as the clock on your VCR. Flash memory is to portable devices what hard drives are to computers. You name it: camcorders, digital cameras, PDAs, cell phones --they all need lots of flash memory. Given the world’s appetite for portal devices, the demand for flash memory is going to explode.

ENER has the patent on a new type of memory -- called Ovonic Unified Memory -- that will make flash memory completely obsolete. If ENER is right, this profit potential could approach billions of dollars per year. Don’t take my word for it. Intel has licensed the distribution rights to ENER’s Ovonic United Memory because it sees the same HUGE potential that I do.
